Being Hispanic and Latino/x in Colorado in 2020: Financial Worries, COVID-19 and Tension with Law Enforcement
A global pandemic, a deep economic recession and a national reckoning on police violence against people of color – 2020 has been a life-changing year for many of us, including Colorado’s multifaceted Hispanic and Latino/x communities.
In the final stretch before Election Day, I shared some thoughts on how health-related issues may be impacting the mood of voters in Colorado and across the nation. When I joined The Colorado Health Foundation in November 2018, I started with three items on my “to do” list: Figure out how to use public opinion research to better understand Coloradans. Do that research in ways that are unbiased and methodologically rigorous. Share what we learn openly and often to advance health equity. It was a daunting list.
